DIY Pumpkin Spice Recipe + 14 Different Ways To Use It

Did someone say pumpkin pie spice?! Yep… during this festive time, it is completely acceptable to swim in a sea of pumpkin pie spice. Luckily, I’m going to show you how to use pumpkin spice – 14 different ways. In fact, you don’t even have to leave your cozy loft to get this seasonal tasty treat.

Pumpkin pie spice should already be a staple lingering in your cupboards, but if not don’t worry, you can make your own.

DIY Pumpkin Pie Spice Recipe

3 Tablespoons Organic Ground Cinnamon

2 Teaspoons Organic Ground Ginger

2 Teaspoons Organic Ground Nutmeg

1 Teaspoons Organic Ground Allspice

1 Teaspoon Organic Ground Cloves

Add to a glass container of your choice with airtight lid. Store in a dark cool place.

How To: Pumpkin Pie Spice 14 Ways

1: Add To Craft Cocktail

Pumpkin Pie Spice Old Fashioned

½ Cup sugar

½ Cup water

2 Teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

3 Dashes bitters

2 Ounces bourbon

Orange peel

Cinnamon stick

  1. Combine sugar, water and pumpkin pie spice in a small saucepan to create a simple syrup. Stir over medium heat until sugar is dissolved. Cool completely before making the cocktail.
  2. In a lowball glass add 1/2 teaspoons simple syrup, bitters, bourbon and ice. Stir until cold and well combined.
  3. Garnish with orange peel and cinnamon stick.

2: Sugar body scrub

1 Cup sugar or salt

1/2 Teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

1/2 cup organic pumpkin purée

1 Teaspoon honey

1 Tablespoon sweet almond oil

Body only not face, apply in circular motions, wash off with warm water.

3: Spice Up Your Breakfast

Pancakes, waffles and french toast - take any recipe and add ½ tsp – 1 tsp of spice to the recipe or sprinkle on top.

4: Add To Coffee Or Tea

Add a few dashes of spice to the top of your warm beverage

5: Add To Cacao Drink

1 cup milk of choice

2 tablespoons cacao

1 tablespoon maple

½ - 1 teaspoon pps

Heat up all in a saucepan, whisk together completely until warm, enjoy!  (whip cream optional)

6: Add To Smoothies

Incorporate PPS into this recipe!

7: Mix Into Cake Or Cookie Batter

Adding this spice to both of these options is ALWAYS a win for the holidays!

8: Season Roasted Veggies

This might sound weird, but makes for an amazing tasty sensation.

9: Add To Chia Pudding & Overnight Oats

10: Sprinkle Granola

This is an easy one if you already have a granola you love, just a little sprinkle in the package and shake! If not choose a granola with a sweeter base like honey, maple or just plain roasted granola, so yum!

11: Add To Chili

Something about this combo delightful and warm.

12: Add To Meat

I like to add this in with olive oil, salt, and pepper. I always cook cinnamon into my meats, but during this time I love the aromas of this version.

13: Hair Mask - YES!

1/4 pumpkin purée

1/2 Teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

2 Tablespoons unrefined coconut oil

1 tablespoons honey

Add to hair, let it sit in a cap for 1-2 hours, wash out thoroughly under warm water. Voilà! Spicy!
